This Seahawks-Patriots Russell Wilson Trade Would Ruin the NFL and Continue Bill Belichick's Reign

Russell Wilson seemed like one of the few NFL players who was genuinely considered "untradeable", but the Seattle Seahawks reportedly tried to send him to the Cleveland Browns in 2018 in exchange for the No. 1 overall pick. Really, Seattle?

If the organization wants to pull off the stupidest move imaginable, yet wants to maximize value on their return, the New England Patriots might be their best trade partner.

Wilson's $31 million cap hit this season, and subsequent hits of $32 million or greater in the next three years, means the financially rigid Patriots might need to part with guard Joe Thuney to balance the books. Draft picks will also need to be attached, as two first-rounders and two second-rounders should be enough paired with Thuney to make this happen.

That sounds like a lot, but adding Wilson, who stated he wants to play until he's 45, would once again make New England the team to be feared given the fact its defense remains elite and Bill Belichick is roaming the sidelines.

Seattle, meanwhile, would have more than enough draft picks and cap space to find another QB and rebuild this roster.

Wilson going to New England would make the rest of the AFC weep defeated tears, but it would help Seattle get the most in return.
