VIDEO: Remembering Pete Carroll Taking His Shirt off for DK Metcalf at the NFL Combine Last Year
By Jack Murphy
The 2019 NFL Combine will be remembered for the impressive performances put on by Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf. The Ole Miss product left scouts and coaches in awe with his absurd displays of speed, strength and athleticism. Among those impressed by Metcalf's attributes was Seattle's head coach Pete Carroll, who took off his shirt while meeting the combine warrior to show his respect.
Carroll, starstruck by the performance Metcalf put on, removed his shirt before giving the wide receiver a proper handshake. Not many things can make a 68-year-old strip off his shirt, however, running a 4.33 40-yard dash, recording a 40.5-inch vertical AND bench-pressing 255 pounds 27 times will most certainly help.
Carroll went ahead and made the decision to draft the 22-year-old receiver with the 64th pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Think the combine sold him? Metcalf certainly rewarded the organization with a tremendous rookie season and is bound to be a top target for Russell Wilson for years to come.
