The Seattle Seahawks defense, fresh off getting diced up by Matt Schaub of all people, juts lost a starter and improving young player for the rest of the season.

Seattle played starting free safety Tedric Thompson on injured reserve, ending his 2019 campaign after just six games.

This is the second season-ending injury in as many days for Seattle, as center Justin Britt was lost for the year with an ACL injury.

Thompson, who was picked in the fourth round of the 2017 draft out of Colorado, started 10 games last year and was the unquestioned starter this season.

Thompson had 19 tackles, two passes defended, and two interceptions this season, the most famous of which was his game-changing, unreal, one-handed effort against Jared Goff and the Los Angeles Rams.

The acquisition of Quandre Diggs could not have come at a better time. Diggs will soften the blow of losing Thompson, while rookies Marquise Blair and Ugo Amadi could also take Thompson's starting spot.

Seattle will take on a Tampa Bay team that loves to go downfield this coming week, so the loss of Thompson could loom large.
