VIDEO: Seahawks' Quandre Diggs Shares Agonizing NFL Draft Day Story About Waiting to Hear His Name Called
By Michael Luciano
There is nothing more agonizing than an NFL Draft prospect waiting to hear their name called on the final day, and Seattle Seahawks safety Quandre Diggs can speak to that. Diggs claims that a team assured him and his family that he would be picked high in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft, but the franchise later traded out of the selection.
In the fourth round that year, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New York Jets, Jacksonville Jaguars and Oakland Raiders all had picks that they traded way. It was likely one of those four teams.
Despite a productive college career at Texas, Diggs fell to pick No. 200 in the sixth round, where the Detroit Lions scooped him up. Diggs emerged as a productive starter over his first four seasons in the Motor City before getting traded to Seattle, where he helped guide the Seahawks defense to a playoff win.
A word of advice to all NFL draft prospects: as stars like Diggs have proved, your NFL dream is not over if you don't get picked on the first two days.
