Russell Wilson Has Emotional Farewell Instagram Post for Justin Britt After Seahawks Released Him
By Jerry Trotta
When you consider how essential Russell Wilson's health is to the Seattle Seahawks' yearly objective, their latest roster transactions can only be viewed as shocking. In an effort to clear up cap space, the team released both center Justin Britt and offensive tackle DJ Fluker on Monday.
The cuts clearly caught Wilson off guard, and the 31-year-old superstar took to Instagram in earnest fashion to thank Britt for everything he gave to the Seahawks organization and wished him well in his future endeavors.
Goodbyes are never easy, but my goodness did Wilson shine a glaring light on the fraternity that is an NFL locker room in this post.
The bond shared between quarterbacks and offensive linemen is unlike any other in football. The big fellas up front go to great lengths to prevent bloodthirsty pass rushers from throwing their vulnerable signal caller's around like rag dolls.
However, Wilson's post suggests that his friendship with Britt went far beyond the gridiron, and understandably so.
The two players spent six seasons together with the Seahawks. Britt started at center in 86 of a possible 96 games during that span while playing at least 93% of the offensive snaps in five of those campaigns.
Wilson and Britt have been through the ringer, and it's really no surprise that the six-time Pro Bowler was shaken up by the release of his longtime teammate.
