Former Panthers TE Greg Olsen Reportedly Signing With Seahawks
By Adam Weinrib
Though we expected his next destination to be the broadcast booth during most portions of the 2019 season, Greg Olsen will instead be remaining on an active NFL roster.
After a mutual parting of the ways in Carolina that turned out to be predictably not mutual at all, Olsen took a three-city tour before determining his next stop, and has settled on Seattle, as of midday Tuesday, according to reports.
Guaranteed money makes up the majority of this short-term deal.
If Olsen can stay healthy -- a huge if, considering he was felled throughout 2018 by repeated complications with a foot injury -- he'll be a perfect fit for the 'Hawks.
Olsen rebounded in 2019 to play in 14 games, racking up 597 yards very much under the radar as his Panthers roster spiraled to the finish line. His consistency never wavered, though. In fact, it's possible there's no one more reliable, on an individual pass-catching basis.
With early-season breakout TE option Will Dissly nearly recovered from an Achilles tear, and Jacob Hollister proving throughout 2019 that he's also a viable option, this further strengthens the team's corps, but could finally spell the end for Luke Willson.
