The Seattle Seahawks in the Pete Carroll era have traditionally been better at drafting during the later rounds than they have been in the first round. They could buck that trend after selecting an extremely productive linebacker.

The Seahawks used the No. 27 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft on speedy, athletic Texas Tech linebacker Jordyn Brooks.

Brooks has drawn criticism for the lack of play strength and recognition he showed at Texas Tech, but the former Red Raider could be destined for stardom in the pros after a productive career in Lubbock.

Brooks flies around the field and can deliver some serious thunder when he gets to the ball carrier. His skill in coverage should make him a great fit for Ken Norton Jr.'s zone-heavy defense.

He might not be a household name, but any talent evaluator worth their salt can see that Brooks is a premium athlete at the linebacker position who could get major snaps right away. Putting him alongside Bobby Wagner should make for a terrific linebacking duo in Year 1 and beyond.
