Nationals Closer Sean Doolittle Says Astros Players Let Down Baseball and Wants an Apology
The fallout from the Houston Astros sign-stealing scandal did not provide much closure. That rings true both for fans and for MLB players not in Houston.
Washington Nationals closer Sean Doolittle went on a rant on Twitter Friday night expressing his frustration over the latest reports from the scandal, while acknowledging that he is not alone in his displeasure with the lack of transparency from the league.
Doolittle is not happy, and he claims that he and the rest of the league are waiting for an apology from Astros players, as well as some accountability. He then proceeded to say that people need to take responsibility for "letting down the game of baseball."
MLB almost seems to think this will all go away and no one will be mad. That is obviously not the case and it's hard to argue with what Doolittle has to say. This is an integrity issue that has tainted the game of baseball. The ill will toward the Astros isn't just going to disappear.
The Astros players aren't making things better either. They seem smug and refuse to offer up any real comments on the whole situation. That leaves someone like Doolittle wondering if anything will change after such a major scandal that is being regarded as one of the worst in baseball history.
Once the season begins the Astros can no longer hide from the questions. That may finally give players and fans a few more answers to help start the process of moving forward.
Don't be fooled, however, players are enraged by the scandal, with Doolittle being one who is bold enough to voice his opinion.
