Sean Payton Refuses Comment on Drew Brees' Potential Return Date After Saints Win
By Chris Pyo

Well, this is about as blunt as it gets.
New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton was asked about whether quarterback Drew Brees will return to the field next week after having missed the Saints' last five games, and this is what Payton had to say:
Sean Payton on the possibility of Brees returning next week: “I’m not even discussing it. I’m sorry”

Brees sustained a finger injury in Week 2 of the NFL season after Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald hit his hand, and he's been out ever since.
However, Teddy Bridgewater has done an admirable job filling in for Brees, having led the team to five straight wins in Brees' absence, including a 36-25 win over the Chicago Bears today. That's all Payton can ask of his backup quarterback.
Teddy Bridgewater bet on himself, and it’s paying off.

Brees himself is reportedly targeting a return as soon as next week against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 8, a week before the Saints reach their bye week.
Without Payton's willingness to divulge any information to the public on when he thinks Brees will be returning, Saints fans just have to hope that Bridgewater continues to perform until their franchise quarterback comes back to lead them on a postseason run.
