SEC, Big 12, Pac-12 and Big Ten Make Needed Call By Cancelling Tournaments Amid Coronavirus Scare

You knew it was only a matter of time before this news arrived. After the NBA, and the entire sports world, was rocked on Wednesday night with the news of Rudy Gobert testing positive for COVID-19, the Association suspended its season. Since then, other leagues have followed suit.
In the college ranks, conferences are taking the necessary measures as well. On Thursday morning, the Big Ten, SEC, Big 12 and AAC quickly announced their conference tournaments would no longer be taking place.
Big Ten, Big 12, SEC and AAC have all cancelled conference tournaments within the last hour. If the Pac-12 follows suit, I’d expect it to happen soon.

Shortly thereafter, the Pac-12 made the sane move in keeping their players and coaches off the hardwood.
Pac 12 will also be cancelled, per source.

With the coronavirus spreading at an alarming rate, this simply had/has to be done. Kudos to the Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12, SEC and AAC for not wasting any additional time and putting a kibosh on things. With Gobert being patient zero in the NBA, and Donovan Mitchell being confirmed to also have the virus on Thursday, the last thing anyone wants is for a mass spread to go through sports teams.

- MLS suspended 30 days
And more to come.
The cancelations have only begun. Get ready for days without sports to entertain you, folks. In this case, however, it feels like it's 100% the right call.
