Several notable NFL players could be placed on the franchise tag

The window has officially opened for NFL teams to use the franchise tag on star players, with the deadline set for March 7. So, how will this all shape out for some big names? Well, guys like Daniel Jones, Saquon Barkley, Lamar Jackson and others want big deals.
However, if they don't bring their number down a bit, then they might have to be tagged. We should find out soon what ends up happening for them, and others.
Starting today, NFL teams can designate their Franchise or Transition Players.

Franchise tag candidates include Lamar Jackson, Daniel Jones, Saquon Barkley, Geno Smith, Tony Pollard, Dalton Schultz, Orlando Brown Jr., Jessie Bates, Daron Payne and Josh Jacobs.
With Jones and Barkley, they powered the Giants to the playoffs for the first time since 2016. Now, they're waiting for general manager Joe Schoen to reward them with a big-time payday.
