VIDEO: Shake Milton Highlights From Ridiculous Breakout Game vs Clippers
By Jackson Thompson
The injury to Ben Simmons opened up an opportunity for Philadelphia 76ers second-year guard Shake Milton, and he left no meat on the bone in an historic performance against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday. Milton put up 39 points, tying the NBA record for most consecutive made 3-pointers at 13 straight in the process.
It only took one half to etch his name in Philadelphia franchise history, when he joined Simmons as the only 76er to score at least 25 points at a 90% shooting percentage in a single half. His historic scoring performance was not enough to deliver a win, however, as they fell to the Clippers 136-130.
Sixers fans will get to see a lot more of Milton after his breakout game. Simmons is expected to be out considerable time with a pinched nerve in his lower back. With center Joel Embiid also out with a shoulder injury, Milton's role won't just be transforming from a backup to a starter, but potentially from a backup to a leading scorer on a team making a playoff push.
The next chapter in the legend of Shake Milton will stay in Los Angeles, as he and the Sixers will look to stack up against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Center on Tuesday.
