Shelby Miller Exercises Release Clause With Brewers and Becomes Free Agent
By Parker White

The Milwaukee Brewers were hoping to catch lightning in a bottle by signing former All-Star right-hander Shelby Miller to a minor-league deal after he was released by the Texas Rangers.
However, on Tuesday, it was announced that Miller exercised the release clause in his contract, making him a free agent.

Miller, 28, has gone through a rough time injury-wise over the last couple years, as he underwent Tommy John surgery when he was with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Sadly, he hasn't been able to stay healthy and return to what he was in his lone season with the Atlanta Braves, when he posted a 3.02 ERA and went to the Midsummer Classic.

Before signing with the Brewers, Miller made 19 appearances (eight starts) for the Rangers and posted an astronomical 8.59 ERA and 1.97 WHIP over 44 innings.
He didn't improve much in the minors with Milwaukee, owning a 4.13 ERA over eight starts across three level.
