Shin-Soo Choo Donates Sum of Money to Every Minor Leaguer in Rangers System in Amazing Gesture
By Michael Luciano

Among those around baseball hit hardest by the COVID-19-induced work stoppage across the baseball world are minor league players already making a paltry salary, considering the time and effort they put into their job.
Texas Rangers outfielder Shin-Soo Choo is making a major donation to make sure those players are taken care of, as he is donating $1,000 to each of the 190 players currently in the Texas minor league system, nearly matching MLB's $1,200 monthly stipend.
Confirmed this story from Korea: Shin-Soo Choo is donating $1,000 to each of 190 minor leaguers in Rangers system. Amazing gesture by Choo, who has always talked of giving back to next generation like generation of players did for him. https://t.co/IOr5TXAfaW

Choo, who hit .265 with a career-high 24 home runs for the Rangers last year, is one of many MLB players and executives who announced that they will donate some money to help those who can't earn money for themselves during this pandemic.
The Rangers, along with all 29 other teams, will donate $1 million to help support stadium staff unable to work due to the postponement of all MLB games through mid-May, at least.
What a sentiment from Shin Soo Choo ??

$1,000 straight out of his own pocket to each of the 190 minor leaguers in the Texas Rangers system. https://t.co/pqxYrTovkE
While the team's billionaire owner should be donating a larger sum to cover the salary of those who can't work, that doesn't minimize what a tremendous gesture this is from Choo. At 37, Choo wants to start giving back to the next generation of players, and this is quite the way to start furthering that end.
