By Jerry Trotta

The Philadelphia 76ers held their annual media day ahead of the upcoming NBA season on Monday, and when Mike Scott stood before the cameras, he was immediately peppered with questions about the fight that he was involved in outside of Lincoln Financial Field on Sept. 8 ahead of the Eagles' Week 1 clash against the Redskins. The 31-year-old forward acknowledged that he should not have engaged the heckling Philly fans despite their persistent uttering of offensive profanities.

“I was like, damn I f***** up. I should’ve just walked away. And then I was like, hell no. He was talking too crazy”
“It’s Philly. We had a brawl before noon!” https://t.co/58XYOzd6Ml
“He was talking crazy," Scott said of one particular fan. "He took it to the next level. So I had to see if he matched that energy. Y’all saw what happened... But yeah, man, you got to be the better person."
Scott did add that he felt no sympathy for any of the aggressors involved.
"He was popping hella sh*t and I had to see if he matched that energy."

Yes, Scott is a professional athlete who should have just walked away from the cussing clown, but its also impossible for us to claim that he shouldn't have defended his honor.
Its well known within the world of sports that Philly fans are quite possibly the most confrontrational of all, so we don't even want to think what they were shouting Scott's direction.
Whatever the case, it's safe to say that we can put this whole scenario firmly in the past. Scott recognized his wrongdoings. Let's move on and look ahead to the 2019-20 season-- one in which the Sixers are bona fide title contenders.
