Skip Bayless’ Garbage Take on Eli Manning Means Giants QB is Definitely a Hall of Famer
By Scott Rogust
In a move expected many were expecting to come, New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning will announce his retirement from the NFL on Friday. While he will forever be remembered for his two incredible Super Bowl runs, his 117-117 regular season record creates a debate when it comes to his Pro Football Hall of Fame status.
Enter Dallas Cowboys fan and Fox Sports hot take machine Skip Bayless.
After news broke of Manning's retirement, Bayless took to Twitter to let everyone know why he doesn't think he's a Hall of Famer. As you can imagine, it couldn't be a worse perspective.
Gee, do you think Bayless had a dog in the fight in Super Bowls XLII and XLVI?
If you remember back during the run-ups to those big games, Bayless was fully behind the New England Patriots. And each time, the Giants proved him wrong, forcing him to eat a slice of humble pie.
Leave it to Bayless to call the David Tyree's helmet catch the "luckiest catch in Super Bowl history" when it's listed as one of the best plays in the NFL's 100-year existence. Yes, and let's argue what may have happened if a better throw was made or if a receiver caught a pass, because none of that ever impacts any other football game.
But we shouldn't be surprised by this. He says and tweets the most ridiculous things to get a rise out of the masses, and he accomplished just that when talking about Manning. All this means is that Manning is indeed a Hall of Famer considering how bad Bayless' track record is.
Hey Skip, don't forget that Manning has two titles this century while your Cowboys have zero. Just saying.
