Skip Bayless' Obsession With Kawhi Leonard 'Quitting' on the Spurs is Creepy and Needs to Stop
By Scott Rogust
We've all had that one friend who went through a nasty breakup. Sometimes, they just can't get over it, and continue to stress themselves out about how it came to an end. Quite frankly, that can get annoying to hear about on a day-in, day-out basis.
The same can be said about Skip Bayless' obsession over Kawhi Leonard. But as time has progressed, it's gotten much worse.
The FOX Sports talking head has had a bit of a vendetta against "No. 2" ever since he held out from the San Antonio Spurs and forced a trade out of town. From sitting out to getting traded to the Toronto Raptors to winning the Eastern Conference Finals, Bayless takes on the role of the jealous, jilted ex, because he felt that Leonard not only "quit" on the Spurs (as he puts it), but Leonard quit on him as well.
We all know that Bayless is paid to be a polarizing figure and to give over-the-top hot takes on "Undisputed," so it's always possible that Bayless is tapping into his television persona in his various Twitter complaints in order to get enraged fans to tune into his show, but this feels different.
Kawhi Leonard has looked like a superstar throughout these NBA Playoffs and one of the very best players in the league. From the clutch Game 7 winner against the Philadelphia 76ers to playing a pivotal role in Toronto winning four straight games against the No. 1 seeded Milwaukee Bucks, he's proven himself to be an unimpeachable competitor.
Even still, Bayless continues to take shots, and goes as far as to not even use the guy's name. Instead, Leonard is simply "No. 2." It's even gotten to the point where NBA stars like CJ McCollum of the Portland Trail Blazers had to tell Bayless to get over it.
Skip, we get it. Kawhi hurt you. But that was over a year ago. It's time to move on and find your next favorite basketball player. Because continuing with this lifestyle of hate-tweeting just isn't healthy.
