Someone Actually Gave Pope Francis an Autographed Patrick Mahomes Jersey
By Jackson Thompson

Pope Francis is quickly becoming the keeper of a diverse jersey collection, and a less-than-ideal superstition for NFL playoff teams. On Friday, he was gifted an autographed Patrick Mahomes jersey during a meeting in Vatican City.
How ya feeling out there, KC nation?
When @BpJamesJohnston met #PopeFrancis today, he presented him with a @PatrickMahomes jersey. The @Chiefs play the @Titans Sunday for the #AFCChampionship. (Pope Francis is a big #Futbol fan, not so much #football, but he is smiling.) (CNS photo/Vatican Media) pic.twitter.com/ozPLhsK537

Bishop James Johnston of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph gave the pope his second autographed NFL jersey this year, just ahead of the Chief's AFC championship on Sunday.
Last month, Baltimore Archbishop William Lori gave the Pope a Ravens jersey autographed by Lamar Jackson and Jim Harbaugh.
#Blessed. ?

Obviously, the gift proved to be a less than fortuitous for the Ravens, as they were upset in the playoffs by the Tennessee Titans the following month. But, another team that had brief interactions with the Pope on social media also suffered an early playoff exit.
Back in October, the Pope used a New Orleans Saints logo emoji in a tweet thanking the five new canonized saints of 2019. Who Dat nation took note of the emoji and personally thanked the Pope on Twitter.
Couldn't lose after this.#Blessed and highly favored ?⚜️ https://t.co/2BoE2oYGqF

We all know what happened to the Saints this January.
Now, the Kansas City chiefs will await their fate on Sunday. Will the bad luck associated with interactions with the Pope spill into Arrowhead Stadium? Or will Pat Mahomes find blessings from his newest jersey barer and open the floodgates for the inevitable Saint Patrick jokes that will come if he leads the Chiefs to the promised land? Sunday can't get here soon enough.
