Son of Former Braves' Star Andruw Jones Commits to Vanderbilt
By Sean Facey
Andruw Jones pieced together a stellar career during his time in the MLB, the majority of which he spent with the Atlanta Braves. Across 17 seasons, Jones was selected to five All-Star games, slugged 434 home runs, and won 10 Gold Gloves for his amazing defense in center field.
Now his son, 15-year-old Druw Jones, has committed to Vanderbilt, one of the nation's top baseball programs.
Druw takes after his father in more ways than one. He's highly touted for his solid defense and the power he's started to flash at the plate.
While it would be unfair to place the expectation for him to play up to his father's legacy, which is that of a borderline Hall of Famer, there's simply no way around drawing comparisons between the two.
He also has plenty of speed. His 7.02 second 60-yard dash time ranked in the 95th percentile according to Perfect Game. By all means, he has the makings of a quality prospect that could rank near the top of the crop for the class of 2022.
Hopefully he can continue to make progress on his path to the majors. He's still got a long way to go, but maybe one day he'll be fully able to follow in the footsteps of his father.
