Sooners Down a Target for Jalen Hurts as Grant Calcaterra is Out for Red River Showdown
By Chris Pyo

Jalen Hurts has been having a phenomenal season for the Oklahoma Sooners thus far this campaign, placing himself right in the Heisman Trophy discussion.
However, against No. 11 Texas, Hurts won't be able to target tight end Grant Calcaterra, as he's been ruled out of this fierce rivalry matchup. This, no question, is a blow for the offense.

It's unclear right now as to why Calcaterra is on the inactive list, but more updates should be provided as it gets closer to kickoff.
Calcaterra's been a mainstay on the Sooners' offense since the days of Baker Mayfield. Last season, with Kyler Murray at the helm, he was named an All-Big 12 First Team.

However, the 6-4, 233-pound junior out of California has totaled just five receptions for 79 yards so far this season, although he's started three of those games.
For this one, backups Lee Morris and Austin Stogner will be handling most of the reps at tight end. They'll need to step up, as this Oklahoma-Texas showdown is expected to be a shootout.
