Sounds Like Andrew Luck Really is Done With Football
By Michael Luciano

The Indianapolis Colts fanbase might be holding out hope for a surprise return to football from former star quarterback Andrew Luck. However, according to owner Jim Irsay, that ship has sailed.
Irsay told Ian Rapoport that they will plan for next offseason under the assumption that Luck will not play again, and that he is still officially retired.
The #Colts are not holding out hope that Andrew Luck returns for 2020, with owner Jim Irsay telling me, “Going into the offeason, we have to proceed as if Andrew is officially retired.” A look at what that means as Indy looks at their QB future: https://t.co/7rMGNdwx8g

Luck, who retired after a preseason game at just 29 years old, threw for 23,671 yards and 171 touchdowns in seven healthy seasons as a Colt. The four-time Pro Bowler threw for 39 or more touchdowns twice, including during his final season in 2018. Eventually, the constant injuries he suffered and the grueling post-injury rehab knocked him out of football.
The only reason this was even a question was the uneven play of quarterback Jacoby Brissett, who was given a two-year contract in the offseason. While his numbers for a 27-year-old are pretty solid (6-7 record, 2,661 yards, 18 touchdowns, six picks), there are too many valleys and not enough peaks in Brissett's game, as evidenced in a Monday night drubbing at the hands of the New Orleans Saints.

As much as Colts fans would like to believe otherwise, is appears as if there is no chance Indy's beloved No. 12 makes a triumphant return to save the day.
