Sports Illustrated's Ranking of the Cowboys' QB Situation is a Literal Joke

The Dallas Cowboys had two clear priorities for this offseason: Extend both quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver Amari Cooper. Dallas was able to lock up Cooper toward the beginning of free agency, but the Cowboys are yet to do the same with Prescott.

The 26-year-old quarterback was placed on an exclusive franchise tag to delay his contract extension, and yet some people still think Dallas' terms with Prescott are favorable. For Sports Illustrated writer Conor Orr, in particular, he somehow thinks the Cowboys have the league's fourth-best quarterback situation.

There's a lot to take into account when ranking all 32 NFL teams in this regard, but to think Dallas' quarterback room is in that good of shape is absurd. Prescott has shown flashes without much postseason success to show for, and it's bonkers to think the Cowboys should be higher on this list than a team like the Ravens.

And if we're going to take depth and backups into account, is it fair to include a group with Cooper Rush and Clayton Thorson on this list's top five? Absolutely not. Prescott may have potential to be a top-five quarterback around the league, but that doesn't mean he's already there.

Unless Prescott can make some noise in the NFL's expanded playoff field or the Cowboys can lock him down long-term, Dallas doesn't deserve to be anywhere close to this list's top five.
