The Houston Astros spent plenty of time being callous this week towards Sports Illustrated reporter Stephanie Apstein for bringing to light the fact that former assistant GM Brandon Taubman obnoxiously screamed his love for closer Roberto Osuna in the post-ALCS locker room, targeted at a scrum of female reporters. Osuna, of course, has a 75-game domestic violence suspension to his name.

After initially questioning the credibility of the story and Apstein herself, Astros owner Jim Crane has since relented, offering Apstein a personal apology and finally admitting the team's original stance was "wrong".

Days after the story came to light, the Astros decided to part ways with Taubman on Friday, prior to Game 3 of the World Series.

Astros GM Jeff Lunhow was one of the higher-ups in Houston who led the campaign to besmirch Apstein's reporting.

While this statement was long overdue, the Astros could have easily kept their feet dug into their despicable position rather than admit that they were in the wrong and beg for forgiveness.

Now that the Astros have taken culpability for what happened, hopefully this ugly incident can finally be put in the past.
