We're smack dab in the middle of hot take season as the NFL season is just a week and a half away from kicking off, but this take is too spicy even for this time of the year.

Even though they lost Vic Fangio and Adrian Amos as the Packers and Vikings improved, Matt Nagy, Mitch Trubisky, and the Chicago Bears are still projected by many to either win the NFC North or at worst, to sneak into the playoffs as a Wild Card team. One Sports Illustrated writer, Andy Benoit, doesn't have a rosy a view for the Bears, as he projected them to finish last in the NFC North at 7-9.

The Detroit Lions over the Bears? Did Matthew Stafford's mom write this?

Replacing Fangio with Chuck Pagano might be a downgrade, but a defense led by Khalil Mack and Eddie Jackson is inherently going to be among the best in the league.

He may not be fellow 2017 draftees Deshaun Watson or Patrick Mahomes, but the Bears went 11-3 in games Mitch Trubisky started, and he will look to improve upon a season in which he threw 24 touchdowns, had a 95.6 passer rating, and made the Pro Bowl.

This preview does have the Colts in the AFC Championship game and the Texans at 7-9, so it's not like this is the only outrageous prediction.
