Star LB Bobby Wagner Agrees to Lucrative 3-Year Extension With Seahawks
By Jerry Trotta
Because he is as professional as they come, Seahawks star linebacker Bobby Wagner reported to Seattle's training camp, despite the fact that he was pursing a reformed contract extension.
The four-time All-Pro let it be known that he would be cautious as he awaited a new deal. Well, Wagner's reluctant persistence has (literally) paid off as he has reportedly agreed to a lucrative deal to remain with the franchise.
According to reports, the extension is worth $54 million over three years and includes $40.2 million in guaranteed money.
Talk about a pay day.
Both sides were reportedly in talks of a potential extension in late March. However, neither party was in a particular rush to reach an agreement as Wagner never once hinted that he would abandon Seattle.
The Utah State product has been one of the most dominant LB's in all of football since he entered the league and last season was no different. In his seventh season with the Seahawks, the five-time Pro-Bowler compiled 138 total tackles (six of which were for losses), two forced fumbles, and eight quarterback hits.
Bobby also recorded an interception that he returned 98 yards for a touchdown.
At 29-years-old, Wagner will continue calling CenturyLink Field his home for the rest of his prime years in the league.
Could you really have pictured him anywhere else?
