4 Star NFL Players Who Could Still Be Traded
By Michael Luciano
The likes of DeAndre Hopkins and Stefon Diggs might be on the move as free agency starts to kick into high gear, but they won't be the only two star players to find themselves on new teams this season. These four players have been the subject of trade rumors for months, either due to their desire for a bigger contract or displeasure with their current organization. Don't be surprised if a risk-taking GM decides to flip one of these game-changers.
4. Jaguars DE Yannick Ngakoue
The Jaguars have placed the franchise tag on Ngakoue after his fourth consecutive season with at least eight sacks. However, in an offseason that has seen Jacksonville part ways with cornerback AJ Bouye and defensive tackle Calais Campbell, Ngakoue could be on the move as well, as he put out a short statement on Twitter that confirms he is unwilling to play the 2020 season under the franchise tag. Ngakoue was a heck of a third-round pick, but his time is almost up in Jacksonville.
3. Vikings FS Anthony Harris
There's been plenty of movement for the Minnesota Vikings already this week, with Kirk Cousins signing a monster new deal and Stefon Diggs being traded to the Buffalo Bills. Could No. 41 be on his way out too? Per reports, the Vikings are only hoping to get a mid-round pick in return for Anthony Harris. Multiple teams have undoubtedly already picked up the phone to inquire about him if that's all Minnesota is asking for.
2. Patriots OG Joe Thuney
Thuney doesn't get nearly the publicity he deserves, as he is one of the best run blocking and pass blocking guards in all of football. The Patriots decided to use their franchise tag on him, which led many to believe that Thuney will once again man the left guard spot for Bill Belichick up in Foxborough. However, Thuney could be in line for quite a huge long-term contract, and the penny-pinching Patriots could be priced out of his range. That hesitance to spend money could lead to Thuney getting traded.
1. Chiefs DT Chris Jones
Jones was the best defensive player on a unit that made some huge stops late to help Patrick Mahomes lead his comeback and give the Chiefs a Super Bowl victory. Jones was hit with the franchise tag to prevent him from hitting the market, but he didn't sound to thrilled about it when it happened and he doesn't seem to have come around of late. Mahomes' soon-to-be signed mega contract is expected to chew up most of Kansas City's cap, and that impending deal could force Brett Veach to part with his best defensive player.
