Star Oregon RB CJ Verdell Plans to Return to Ducks for 2020 Season
By Karl Rasmussen
While Justin Herbert is the most renowned figure on the Oregon Ducks offense, the team's rushing attack was arguably its most lethal weapon on that side of the ball.
Aided by an elite and experienced offensive line, the Ducks run game carved up opposing defenses, most recently evidenced in their thrashing of Utah in the Pac-12 championship.
Well, in some uplifting news for Mario Cristobal and a Ducks team set to lose a lot of talent, star running back CJ Verdell is planning to return to Eugene for one more go around.
Verdell was absolutely explosive in the Pac-12 Championship, torching the Utah defense for 208 yards and three scores on just 18 carries.
On the year, the sophomore ran for 1,171 yards and eight touchdowns, averaging 6.5 yards per carry.
With Verdell's future assured, the Ducks will anxiously await the decision of other draft-eligible talents from the program as they gear up in hopes of returning to the CFP in 2020.
