Steelers Fans Don't Want to Admit Antonio Brown is Right About JuJu Smith-Schuster
By Michael Luciano
Over a calendar year after Antonio Brown demanded a trade out of Pittsburgh, he and JuJu Smith-Schuster are still sniping at each other, with Brown firing another salvo at the Steelers wideout in an interview with The Athletic.
To hear Brown tell it, Smith-Shuster -- who idolized AB while a college receiver at Southern Cal -- learned everything there is to know about playing wide receiver from watching Mr. Big Chest.
"I gave JuJu Smith-Schuster all the positive cheat codes and all the stuff to be successful," Brown said. "To watch a guy call me out when I am moving forward with positive and he is moving forward with positive … people have to show more respect and be more considerate with others."
Brown normally offers little to nothing of value whenever he opens his mouth, and it's easy to skewer him for hypocrisy and lack of self-awareness. But there is a kernel of truth to his statement here.
While Smith-Schuster had to deal with a revolving door at quarterback in the Steel City, his drop in production in 2019 was jarring. Without AB to take away the opposing team's No. 1 cornerback, JuJu struggled, piling up just 552 yards while missing four games with a knee injury. Life without AB wasn't as rosy as JuJu might have envisioned.
These two have clearly not buried the hatchet, but AB can rest easy knowing that for all of his profound faults as a human being, he was a demonstrably better wide receiver than JuJu is and likely will be. Steelers fans might need to put the JuJu pom-poms down and take a sobering look at the numbers when comparing the two.
