Steelers OL Zach Banner Destroys Pittsburgh Sports Personality Mark Madden on Twitter
By Scott Rogust
It's no secret that plenty of athletes dread speaking with the media, specifically on radio. They hear the criticism from the hosts on a week-in, week-out basis, and they have to put on a brave public relations face and play nice with them.
That method doesn't fly with Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Zach Banner. On Wednesday, Banner advertised his appearance on ESPN Pittsburgh with "a couple unathletic adults." Tell us how you really feel, Zach.
That tweet angered fellow sports radio personality and former World Championship Wrestling color commentator Mark Madden, who criticized Banner's abilities on the gridiron.
For someone who dubbed himself "the Super Genius" back in the day, that wasn't a wise move on Madden's part. Banner is notoriously defensive when it comes to his athleticism, and he let Madden know he wasn't having any of his criticism.
No elaboration needed here. Short, sweet, and to the point. But Banner wasn't done just yet.
We know Madden is used to that kind of criticism on a daily basis, but that's going to be tough to come back from.
Madden has the reputation of getting on the last nerve of athletes and listeners in the Pittsburgh area, especially when it comes his opinions on the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins. Banner said it himself that fans have pleaded with him to call out Madden, and did he ever deliver on that.
