Bizarre Argument That Steelers Should Sign Tom Brady is Tearing Pittsburgh Apart
By Mark Powell
Tom Brady might have played his final game as a New England Patriot, but this is downright blasphemous.
Brady's longtime rivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers (among others) are likely to be searching for a veteran backup QB this offseason. Ben Roethlisberger's health is in question after suffering a season-ending elbow injury, and Pittsburgh must be better prepared for such a setback than they were in 2019.
However, signing TB12 shouldn't be an option, despite what some media personalities in Pittsburgh are suggesting.
No. No No. No No No. Turn that into a song, and play it over and over again on KDKA.
Let's tear this argument apart, shall we? First, Brady isn't going to settle for a backup role, even a vague one in which there's some sort of mutual understanding that Roethlisberger's recovery time won't get in the way of the GOAT's chase for Super Bowl No. 7.
Second, Brady wearing black and gold should make every Steelers supporter want to puke. It's sacrilegious, and perhaps the only way Pittsburgh football fans would turn on Kevin Colbert after he pulled a Minkah Fitzpatrick trade out of thin air.
Not to mention, the Steelers issues offensively mirror those which cost the Patriots a playoff run. Pittsburgh's receivers struggled to find separation on a consistent basis after losing Antonio Brown this offseason, with the suddenly-mortal and oft-injured JuJu Smith-Schuster descending from viral sensation to regular Mark Madden talking point.
Brady in the Steel City is a match made in hell, and history will frown upon this very thought, even should it not come to fruition.
