Steelers Third-Round Pick Alex Highsmith Picks up Degree From Charlotte
By Andrew Gullotta
In addition to recording 15 sacks last season and getting drafted in the third round by the Steelers, linebacker Alex Highsmith added another honor to his name after he graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
This small-school prospect went OFF in 2019, as he had 21.5 tackles for loss to pair with his 15 sacks. Pittsburgh hopes that they can develop Highsmith into another amazing pass rusher, which they have done many times in their history due to their great coaching on defense.
The 6-4, 242 pound edge rusher has a ton of great physical traits, as he has elite explosiveness and motor, but will have to fine tune his technique if he wants to become a starter in the league. It seems like Pittsburgh is a great spot for him to do that.
However, for now, we congratulate the Charlotte product and all of the 2020 graduates all the United States that couldn't walk across the stage and celebrate, as a degree is an amazing accomplishment, even for star football players like Highsmith.
