Stefon Diggs Hints at Looming Trade From Vikings With Recent Tweet Activity
By Mark Powell
Stefon Diggs, in no uncertain terms, is ready for a change of scenery.
The 26-year-old wide receiver had deleted Vikings references from his social media earlier this offseason, and despite Minnesota's decision to extend QB Kirk Cousins this afternoon, Diggs' status in the NFC North is far from certain.
On the same afternoon DeAndre Hopkins was reportedly traded to Arizona, Diggs hinted at his own looming move with a simple tweet.
With player empowerment the new norm in today's NFL, the Vikings seem likely to oblige if they can't patch things up ASAP.
It's not like Diggs wasn't productive in 2019 -- he reached his career-best mark in receiving yards with 1,130 paired and six touchdowns through the air. While he's technically the No. 2 to Adam Thielen, one could argue he's just as important to the Vikings' offense.
Diggs has spent his entire five-year career in Minnesota. Nonetheless, it could be argued that his services are better-suited elsewhere, potentially with a more efficient, reliable signal-caller at the helm than what Cousins can offer.
