Stephen Jones Says Cowboys Defense Could Mirror Bill Belichick Scheme Thanks to Regime Change

When in doubt, mirror Bill Belichick and the six-time Super Bowl champion New England Patriots.
The Dallas Cowboys have plenty of moving parts defensively, including new DC Mike Nolan. They've lost four starters, most notably stud CB Byron Jones, who left for a record contract from the Miami Dolphins.
This doesn't mean the Cowboys are lost on the defensive side of the ball. They are, however, hoping that this unit is better than the sum of its parts.
"You want to have flexibility, you want to have great players, you want to be able to scheme against the offense you’re going to play around,” Jones told Dallas radio station 105.3 The Fan. “A perfect example of that and people who’ve had tremendous success is Coach Belichick in New England in terms of how they scheme and how they use different fronts and different schemes in order to have success on the defensive side of the ball.”
Dallas' pass rush still features the likes of veteran DeMarcus Lawrence and the newly-signed Aldon Smith. With enough productive bodies, the Cowboys' system will be relied upon to rotate in top talent depending on situational awareness.
Comparing the Cowboys as currently constructed to any defense Belichick has put together is perhaps unfair, but Jones has high expectations for a unit that remains just a few pieces away from Super Bowl contention.
