Stephen Strasburg's Start Friday May Be the Most Important in Nationals History
By Parker White
Stephen Strasburg came in relief during the NL Wild Card Game and tossed three shutout innings in the must-win game for the Nats.
Fans wondered when they'd see him in the NLDS against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Well, the answer is here, and he'll take the hill for Game 2.
Not only will he be on short rest after throwing 34 pitches on Tuesday, but he'll have to square off against Clayton Kershaw down 0-1 in the series after the Washington Nationals were blanked in Game 1.
The pressure is high for Strasburg to perform, and to ramp that up even further, this might very well be the most important start in franchise history.
Strasburg's start Friday night is vitally important. This Nationals team has a chance to shock the world against the mighty Dodgers, but for that to happen, they need to win tonight and for the stud righty to be dominant.
Washington was dominated in Game 1, no doubt about it. To get their footing and some momentum going back home, Strasburg needs to pitch like the guy we've seen all season.
No pressure, but Strasburg needs to pitch like the ace Washington drafted No. 1 overall back in 2009.
