DeAndre Hopkins and Stephon Gilmore Trade Insults on Twitter After Texans-Patriots Clash
By Scott Rogust
The Houston Texans are riding high after defeating the previously top-of-the-heap New England Patriots 28-22 on Sunday Night Football. Two days after the game, the Texans are still talking about their notable upset.
Well, at least one player is.
On Tuesday night, Texans star receiver DeAndre Hopkins posted a photo of himself making a catch over a grounded Stephon Gilmore, New England's ace cornerback. As if the photo wasn't a strong enough dig, Hopkins suggested that the Patriots should have double-covered him every time.
After he was practically invited to the fight, Gilmore replied. Well, not technically. The Patriots defensive back sent out a separate tweet, saying Hopkins was doubled up only two times in 60 minutes of regulation.
Gilmore isn't lying in his assessment. The Patriots did double-cover Hopkins twice in the game, as noted by Zack Cox of NESN. Unfortunately for them, it led to two Houston touchdowns, one from running back Duke Johnson and the other from receiver Kenny Stills.
On the night, Hopkins was targeted eight times by quarterback Deshaun Watson, catching five for a total of 64 yards
Gilmore hasn't been shy in proclaiming his greatness this season. But if a player can dish out the trash talk, they have to receive some as well. All told, DeAndre Hopkins is the one with the "W," so he won't sweat anything he sees on his timeline all that much.
