Steve Cishek Claims Cubs Suspected Astros Illegal Sign-Stealing During Game in 2019
By Evan Wolff

The fallout continues from the Astros sign-stealing scandal. According to the MLB report, the Astros committed their offenses during the 2017 regular season and postseason.
Now another player has thrown themselves into the spotlight and accused the Astros of continuing to cheat after the 2017 season. Steve Cishek, a veteran relief pitcher who played for the Chicago Cubs in 2019, believes their signs were compromised while playing against Houston.
Steve Cishek says the Cubs had a game against the Astros last year where they felt it was obvious that their signs were being stolen, but they didn’t have clear evidence. He said he would rather face someone using PEDs than someone who knows what’s coming

As he states, Cishek doesn't have any hard evidence to back up his claim, but at this point in time, it is fair to give him the benefit of the doubt. It's more damning on the MLB, however, that a player has openly stated that they would rather face a player on steroids, rather than a team with sign-stealing technology.
He also said they ended up losing that game. The only loss was a game where the only HRs were by Alex Bregman. The one he’s talking about was a slider off Brad Brach in the 6th.

The Cubs had many bullpen issues in 2019. Could it be that the pitchers just weren't as effective, rather than signs being stolen? Of course that is a possibility.
However, knowing what we do about the Astros, nothing is out of the question.
