“I’m very disappointed we couldn’t work out a deal," he said in a statement. "But as an 8% holder I’m looking forward to a higher bid for the team."
Cohen is a multi-billionaire so it is hard to feel too much sympathy after his failed bid to take controlling ownership of the team. However, Mets fans just wanted someone to seize control from the Wilpon family after so many disappointing seasons.
More from Steve Cohen, whose bid to become the Mets' majority owner fell through this week: “I want to thank the fans for their support and the respect they showed me and I want to thank Commissioner Manfred and MLB for their support through the process."

Cohen is still a rich man and this failed bid to buy the Mets won't hurt his bottom line. What it does do is open up a new sale process that can result in any number of potential owners putting in bids.
Perhaps one day Cohen will take over the team after all. Until then, Mets fans are left hoping change will come soon.
