Steve Smith Comes Up With Very Bizarre Metaphor for Eli Manning-Odell Beckham Jr Relationship
Odell Beckham Jr. was traded to the Cleveland Browns following his last season with New York, and after getting through the phase of discontent with the Giants' decision, he looks genuinely happy with the Browns.
Much of his discontent came from his idea that he was the one to keep a failing Giants franchise afloat, and that this circumstance held him back in recent years. Former NFL wide receiver Steve Smith agreed with Beckham, offering a metaphor to explain.
In his bizarre example, Smith referred to Beckham as a talented chef that sometimes gets stuck with a 'mystery meat' that has to be made into something.
That mystery meat Smith is referring to is two time Super Bowl champion and Giants quarterback Eli Manning.
Of course, both Beckham and Smith are legitimate in their thinking to an extent.
Since Beckham was drafted by the Giants in 2013, he has been the star of the show, making spectacular catches that are nearly impossible for most other NFL receivers. In many cases, he has created highlight reels with less than perfect passes from Manning.
Beckham has also had to play with an aging Manning who experienced a sharp decline in his past two to three seasons, while he himself was just entering his prime and making national headlines. OBJ did not get to experience the Super Bowls or the eight straight winning seasons from 2005-2012.
So Beckham in many ways did get the short end of an aging stick, and had to work with what was left.
