Strike Zone to Alex Bregman in Astros-Rangers May Be the Worst of All Time
By Ryan Flores

Home plate umpire Tim Timmons is in rare form today.
Timmons is still clearly shaking off the rust from the All-Star break, as he had a very questionable strike zone in the at-bat between Texas Rangers pitcher Ariel Jurado and Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman.
The first three pitches that Bregman saw were called balls, even though two of them were very clearly in the strike zone. It was so bad that it caught the attention of a couple of fans on Twitter, who were clearly unhappy with Timmons' performance so far.
What an embarrassment. I'm so tired of this.

Here's another one.
Tim Timmons is like- "you thought Rob Drake was bad on Friday." Hold my beer."

It's not all bad, as one fan actually came to Timmons' defense.
Very strange. In my experience Tim Timmons is one of the better ball-strikes umpires, but I guess even the good ones can have a bad day.

The fan is absolutely correct. Every umpire will have their bad days, even the high quality umpires. However, to call a strike zone this bad is inexcusable.
Timmons isn't the only umpire that's having a hard time as of late, as Joe West also had some highly questionable strike calls in the New York Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays game on Saturday night.

It might be time to start taking the idea of robot umpires a little more seriously. These bad calls are starting to get out of hand.
