Superdome Officer Won't Press Charges Against Odell Beckham Jr After Spanking Incident

It seems like Odell Beckham Jr. can breathe a little easier now in regards to his conduct after college football's national championship game.

The security officer that Beckham slapped somewhat strongly on the backside in LSU's locker room following his alma mater's convincing win over Clemson Monday night in New Orleans will not press charges against him, per a new report from Nola.com.

New Orleans police had previously issued a warrant for Beckham's arrest for simple battery. The warrant still hasn't been rescinded as of this writing despite the officer's lack of desire to make this a criminal issue.

The Cleveland Browns wide receiver's run-in with the security officer wasn't the only thing that got him in trouble in the post-game celebrations at the Superdome, however. OBJ was also seen handing out wads of cash to LSU players, a story that could have an ending far less happy than this one.

The monetary exchanges immediately raised questions about compliance with the NCAA's strict rules regarding players accepting gifts and services. Beckham's status as a former LSU player only complicates matters.

Of course, dealing with the NCAA pales in comparison to the problems that would result from a protracted legal battle. OBJ's not completely out of the woods yet, but this is a modest step in the right direction at the very least.
