Taulia Tagovailoa Announces Where He'll Be Transferring After Leaving Alabama

Alabama Crimson Tide fans already know the bad news. Tua Tagovailoa's brother, Taulia, entered the transfer portal last week with the intention of leaving the football program.
But there's good news. He won't be going to another school in the SEC. Taulia announced his decision on Twitter Friday evening and revealed he's headed to Maryland, where he'll have three years of eligibility.

He'll compete in the ACC under former Alabama offensive coordinator Mike Locksley, who enjoyed a fast start to the 2019 season before watching his Terps crash and burn. Perhaps Tagovailoa can inject some life into the program after their horrible end to the campaign.
The decision, while a surprise at the time, wasn't at all that shocking when you look at Alabama's depth chart. Mac Jones is very clearly entrenched as the starter for the 2020 season and Bryce Young, who was the top quarterback in the 2020 class, is right behind him. That didn't give Taulia much of a clear path.

He'll also face considerable less competition at the QB spot at Maryland in addition to much softer defenses in the ACC. And he'll be on the east coast while his brother kicks off his NFL career with the Miami Dolphins. It's hard to criticize his decision when you consider all those factors.
