Taysom Hill is Backing the Saints Into a Corner and it's Going to Be a Big Problem for Sean Payton
By Thomas Carannante
Taysom Hill may be listed as a quarterback in your programs, but the man is the truest Swiss Army knife we've seen perhaps ever.
He's a special teams standout. He's a runner. He's a receiver. He's a blocker. What can't the guy do? The problem is, he just wants to be one thing.
Hill views himself as a franchise quarterback and is essentially saying the New Orleans Saints need to see it his way.
The 29-year-old is a restricted free agent this offseason and the Saints are expected to place a first-round tender on him, meaning if another team manages to pry him from New Orleans, they'll have to surrender their top pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
While the front office is making sure they get proper compensation in return if Hill leaves, the problem here is that Drew Brees is still around (and Hill is 29). Brees will be starting next year and Hill is certainly not at an age where a team would view him as a franchise QB.
Not only that, Hill isn't even the Saints' backup QB!
So the good news here is that the Saints will be getting value in return if Hill leaves. The bad news is that there's a good chance he does leave and their offense loses a truly dynamic piece.
