Taysom Hill Update Proves Offseason Hype Was a Complete Waste of Our Time
By Michael Luciano
Taysom Hill, the man who has picked up more undeserved hype for his ability as a thrower of the football than any other quarterback in NFL history, is best known for his versatility on offense due to his athleticism. Even after being handed the QB2 job, Hill will likely only see the field in those wacky packages during the 2020 season.
He served as the No. 3 quarterback last year behind Drew Brees and Teddy Bridgewater and will take over the backup quarterback role after Bridgewater signed his huge deal with the Carolina Panthers. Sean Payton also confirmed Hill will once again maintain his usual roles as a running back, wide receiver and punt protecter.
The 29-year-old completed three of his six pass attempts last year for a total of 55 yards. He also managed 156 yards on the ground and one rushing touchdown in addition to 234 yards receiving and six touchdowns.
While he'll be the backup, Payton also mentioned the Saints will activate a third quarterback on gameday due to Hill's usage in other areas of the gameplan.
With just 13 career pass attempts, some talking heads genuinely tried to convince us that he was a franchise quarterback. Hopefully that offseason hype won't rear its head in 2020.
