The NFL world was struck with the horrible news that former New England Patriots linebacker and current ESPN analyst Tedy Bruschi suffered a stroke on Thursday.

Hours after his family asked for privacy, they released an official statement on Friday night, saying that Bruschi is recovering well at Sturdy Memorial Hospital, thanks in part to noticing the symptoms early.

The Brushci family continued, expressing their gratitude for the prayers and well wishes from fans and colleagues alike.

Brushci suffered a stroke back in 2005, just days after playing in the Pro Bowl. He missed the first six weeks of that season, but being the warrior that he was on the gridiron, Bruschi showed no effects in his return. As a result, he was named the 2005 NFL Comeback Player of the Year award.

After suffering his first scare, Bruschi created "Tedy's Team," a running club which raises funds for the American Stroke Association.

It's certainly great news to hear from the Bruschi family, and we hope to see the former linebacker back on the air soon.
