Tennessee and Jeremy Pruitt Had the Worst Saturday in College Football for the 2nd Straight Week

This year was supposed to turn it all around for the Tennessee Volunteers. Instead, they're 0-2 for the first time since 1988. Yeah, it's that bad.

Just one week after a shocking defeat at the hands of Georgia State, Jeremy Pruitt and the Vols fell victim to BYU in overtime in another surprising, disappointing result.

It's too early to give up on Pruitt, and frankly Tennessee probably cannot afford it after their last head coaching search. Still, this is an awful look for the Vols for multiple reasons.

First, BYU looked bad at home against a ranked Utah team last week, losing the Holy War fairly handily. Second, Georgia State, the team which went into Knoxville and came away triumphant just last week, needed a monumental comeback just to defeat FURMAN on Saturday. Yes, Furman.

We are so, so proud of YOUR Panthers, but all this does is further prove GSU had no business going in an defeating a Power-5 program on the road. Tennessee was embarrassed at both lines of scrimmage, and that continued at times on Saturday against BYU, with Jarrett Guarantano looking borderline inept when the Vols needed him most.

As of now, you can chalk this up as a wasted season for the Vols. Pruitt is signed long-term, and his buyout is assuredly large given the circus of a coaching search it took to snag him out of Nick Saban's clutches. If he's not the guy, Tennessee is screwed.
