Tennessee Scores Huge Win With Commitment From 5-Star 2021 Defensive End
By Sam Dunn
It's a hard life trying to compete in the Southeastern Conference. With Alabama a constant juggernaut under Nick Saban, and LSU and Georgia likewise among the truly dominant programs in college football, you often simply have to take what you can get and declare moral victories whenever possible. That's why today's legitimate victory by the Tennessee Volunteers is particularly worth celebrating.
5-star defensive end Dylan Brooks, a member of the recruiting class of 2021, has committed to Jeremy Pruit and the Vols.
A 6-foot-5 star out of Roanoke, Alabama, Brooks chose Big Orange over a long list of top programs, principally the Auburn Tigers. He's the No. 1 weakside defensive end in the nation according to the 247Sports composie rankings, and the No. 18 prospect in the entire nation.
As it stands, he's the only Tennessee pledge in 2021's top 200, much less the top 20.
Pruitt still has a good ways to go, given that his program has to play Georgia, Alabama, and Florida every single year. But at the very least, he can appreciate the fact that one year from now, a massively exciting prospect is coming his way to shake up the game.
