The sports world had a major scare early Saturday morning when it was reported that former NFL wide receiver Terrelle Pryor was in critical condition after suffering stab wounds to the shoulder and chest in Pittsburgh.

Pryor, who is currently a free agent, is reportedly expected to survive the attempt on his life. Per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, doctors are currently monitoring his progress in the hospital and loved ones are with him.

Pryor was last signed to the Jacksonville Jaguars, although he didn't make a single appearance on the field for them. Before that, he had played for five different franchises, including the Browns, Jets, and Raiders.

As an exceptional prospect for the Ohio State Buckeyes, Pryor was a standout quarterback who threw for 57 touchdowns and over 6,000 yards. After withdrawing from school amid a memorabilia scandal, he was drafted in the third round of the 2011 Supplemental Draft by the Oakland Raiders and played a couple of years for them, seeing some action at quarterback and at multiple skill positions.

After being claimed off waivers by the Browns, Pryor made the transition to a full-time wide receiver, where he found success in the 2016 season with 77 receptions, 1,004 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

First and foremost, we hope that Pryor makes a full recovery from this devastating turn of events, and we're thankful to read about these newest developments.
