Texans Cut CB Aaron Colvin 1 Day After He Got Torched by Drew Brees and Saints

The Houston Texans are moving on from their huge 2018 free agency signing after just one year.

According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Texans released cornerback Aaron Colvin from his contract on Tuesday.

Back in 2018, the Texans nabbed Colvin from the AFC South rival Jacksonville Jaguars, signing him to a four-year, $34 million contract. As Schefter mentions, Colvin was handed $18 million guaranteed by Houston, and is owed $7.5 million with 15 games left in the season.

During Houston's season opener against the New Orleans Saints, Colvin was picked apart by quarterback Drew Brees. In that game, Colvin was targeted nine times, and he surrendered eight catches for 115 yards and a touchdown.

In the first year of his contract, Colvin played in ten games (two starts), where he recorded 29 tackles and defended just one pass.

The Colvin signing by former general manager Brian Gaine proved to be a disaster, and now, the Houston Texans are suffering from buyer's remorse.
