This Texans-Jaguars Trade for Yannick Ngakoue Could Actually Work

Defensive end Yannick Ngakoue was denied his opportunity to hit the open market and receive a huge multi-year contract when the Jacksonville Jaguars slapped the franchise tag on the budding star.

Ngakoue has all but refused to play for the Jaguars on the tag, which could allow the Houston Texans to swoop in and steal him from their hated foe in Jacksonville.

If Jacksonville can get over the fact that they would be trading him within the division, Houston has assets they have clearly shown they are willing to part with. Houston owns picks No. 40, 57, and 90 in this draft, and it looks like the going rate for Ngakoue would be something like the No. 57 selection.

Houston could also throw in a running back like Duke Johnson, who has since become redundant thanks to the acquisition of David Johnson, to sweeten the deal. That should be enough to create a hellacious pass rush of Ngakoue, JJ Watt, and Whitney Mercilus.

Head coach/GM/emperor Bill O'Brien is firmly in the crosshairs of the Houston fanbase after parting ways with both DeAndre Hopkins and Jadeveon Clowney for pennies on the dollar. One way that he could get back in the fan's good graces is swinging a deal for one of the game's most promising pass rushers in Ngakoue.
