Texans OL Laremy Tunsil Reportedly Underwent Shoulder Surgery and is Considering Becoming His Own Agent
By Sam Dunn
There's a lot going on in Laremy Tunsil's life right now. He's set to become a free agent a year from now, and wants to get himself locked into a big-time contract extension. But before he can focus fully on that, he needs to rehab his way back from a torn labrum he reportedly underwent surgery for recently, per Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.
Oh, and he also apparently fired his agent... and is considering representing himself in future contract negotiations.
It's a bold strategy, Cotton.
Tunsil is due to make just over $10 million in 2020, the last year of his current contract. Wilson reports that he began discussions with the Texans about an extension during the NFL Scouting Combine, and expressed a desire to earn as much as $20 million annually.
Well, good luck with that. But you have to admire the sheer self-belief.
Betting on yourself is one thing, but pulling a Richard Sherman and ditching your agency in order to negotiate for yourself by yourself is quite the gambit. But coming off a Pro Bowl season in 2019, he clearly believes that he's operating from a position of strength.
